Seoul— officially the Seoul Special City —is the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea. The Seoul Capital Area,which includes the surrounding Incheon metropolis and Gyeonggi province, is theworld's third largest metropolitan area with over 25.6 million people.

Seoul is in the northwest of South Korea.Seoul proper comprises 605.25 km2, with a radius ofapproximately 15 km, roughly bisected into northern and southern halves bythe Han River.

Seoul is famous for: the largest wholesaleand retail market – Myeongdong, cultural art market – Insadong, where traditionaland modern Korean artworks, such as paintings, sculptures and calligraphy aresold, and Han River, a major river in South Korea, which have played animportant role in Korean history.
