故事是结束了，可本来很平常的事故，因为意外的原因，使它的善后处理变得错综复杂。
这位司机穷得家徒四壁，上有老母下有妻儿，就靠他一人的收入养家，单位为了照顾他，才让他开小四轮，跑跑厂里的短途运输。所以面对飞来横祸，他心如死灰，只有一个念头：死！
那位老工人更令人敬佩，当他了解到司机的家境后，拒绝了一切赔偿，自己付了医药费。而最让人担心的是那位受伤的农民，他完全可以在医院躺个一年半载，直到肇事方满足他的要求。这样的例子很多。但事情的进展完全出乎我的意料，那天司机去医院探望伤者，当时有人问了他一个问题：“你自己都不想活了，为什么还记得打120去救他？”他显然毫无准备，愣了一下说：“万一他还有救呢？”就因为这句话，感动了我们，也感动了伤者。第二天他就坚持要出院，他说：“咱回家养着，咱可不能讹人家！”
如今想起来，整件事的顺利解决，如果说有什么重要因素，那只能是——善良。善良是人性中最基本的品格，也是人性里最为朴素的美。只有在善良的土壤里，才能开出一切更为崇高的品德之花。我们不能苛求每一个平凡的人，都用崇高的品德感天动地，但如果我们做到人人心存善良，那么这个世界就一定会更美好。
人在世上并不是孤立的，除非他过著与世隔绝的生活。既然活在人世间就须与人发生往来，因此就产生处世哲理，各个时代各个民族都因人的需要而发展出约定俗成的处世原则，这些处世原则有其世俗性的价值，但不见得就合乎真理，也不见得就合乎人性(如三从四德)，但却能在当时广为人民所接受，表示世间存有著集体的痴情，这些是世间冲突、对立及苦难的根源。
肩负启迪人类智慧觉性的佛教，教导人与人相处之道及拔除世间纷争的方法，应值得世人的参考与应用。佛经里有很多地方都探讨人际的问题，举例来说，在《善生经》就谈到善生之父教导他：“东方若有众生者，我尽恭敬供养礼事彼，我尽恭敬供养礼事彼已，被亦当恭敬供养礼事我。”对南西北下上方的人也是同样互相敬重的态度，善生依教遵行，但不知其由，而佛陀细心引导他东方代表儿女与父母相处之道，南方则代表弟子与师长，西方则代表丈夫与妻子，北方则代表主人与佣人，下方则代表亲戚朋友之间，上方则代表施主与修道者，六种不同角色的相处之道。从佛陀引导善生的内容可以看出佛陀照顾到世间人情世故及互相礼敬尊重的温情，也引导更向上解脱的方向。
